fan pulley lubrication - where is it?

I finished putting back together a steering bolster rebuild on my H. Apparantly, after much power washing and degreasing I washed away whatever grease or oil that was in the fan pulley. I suspected I'd find a grease fitting in there but no. After some research there's some sort of oil bath in it somewhere. Anyone know how I get lubrication to it? It's noisy now since I 'cleaned' it so well. A pic would be great!

There should be two grease zerks on the left side of the pump near the engine block. One greases the two ball bearings that carry the fan assemble and the other greases the pump drive shaft. The one that greases the shaft will take less than a full stroke on your grease gun to get enough grease. Any more after it gets hard to pump will force grease into the engine coolant. If you overgrease the other one it will come out behind the fan blade.

grease zerk = fitting? I looked for a while with a drop light and didn't find any traditional grease fitting "point". What do they look like?

The oil bath is the air cleaner, (has nothing to do with the waterpump) grease fittings are on the side of the water pump, its more than just a fan pulley. There may be brass covers on them.(Gov. side of the the pump) Unless you took the pump off. it shouldnt be any noiser than it was before. You dont have something back together right.

They may have brass caps screwed on them so they don't look like zerks. Remove the cap and you have a normal looking zerk underneath.

We have a Super A that has a "rattle" noise in the fan area. We suspect it is a worn out bearing on the fan. Could it be that it just needs greasing?? It sounds like a rattle/ping noise. The fan also turns out of round, so maybe the bearing is worn.

What do you guys think will fix it???

I'll look at it in the daylight if I don't get called for work. It sounds bad compared to before the work done....I started it up and said WTH is that noise? I thought I left some tools in there.... I did a lot of degreasing and power washing.......I'm sure I need some lube somewhere in there. Best!

You have a completely different set up than an H. Original equipment was a sleeve type bearing with an oil reservoir around it. Oil is added bu removing a small screw on the outside of the hub. Fill it with oil, turn it so it faces down and let the excess oil drain out, and reinstall the screw.

Since the fan "turns out of round" most likely the bearing is too far gone to still be serviceable. Replacement fan bearing assemblies use a sealed ball bearing assembly like a modern water pump.

Sure that the fan isn't hitting the radiator shroud? The grease fittings are on the left side of the tractor just back of the water pump pulley flange. If they have caps on them, they will look like 5/16 studs sticking out. Twist the caps to remove them.

That was it. Mine had brass caps on the fittings. The one towards the rear of the tractor took very little if any grease (with a pneumatic grease gun). The front took it easy. Noise is gone. Thanks!
