M hand crank storage

sweek, A lot of folks, including myself, would drop it between the engine block and the RH frame rail. Sets there right nicely! Hope this helps!

Best place to store crank for a M is to hang it on a nail in the tool shed! With a good battery ignation system system you will never need it!! If that engine has any compression at all you will never be able to hand crank it. Armand

Most of the tractors sent to the UK during the last war had no electrics. I have a 1940 BN a 1942 W6 and a 1945 H and they are all hand crank start. I make sure the mags are in good order and thy are timed right. The crank on the BN fit in the clips on the gearbox top, the crank on the W6 fits doen the left hand side of the engine and the crank on the H lays on top of the flat platform. MJ

WHEN i WAS A KID 14YRS,WE KEPTED it inside the left frame rail with 2 clips,I was able to crank it to start(poor battery and charging with mag)now I know better

Crank handle fits in the front square tube of the top attachment of the drawbar, never goes any where. As far as cranking an M, maybe some people are just sissys.

Yes, I guess I am a sissy.
There. Now, do you feel like a "real man"? I hope so - I can tell that's important to you......

We had a '48 M that we cranked for years until dad figured out the starter rebuild only cost $60. I was not happy when I learned that. I never had a close call with it or got hurt, but being 16 and weighing 150 lbs did not help cranking that engine over.

The crank always sat on the platform. It lay flat with one side on the left side of the seat and the crank handle laying on the right side of the shifter. It never moved during use.
