Hi, my 3 point will not stay up, it slowly drifts down, even with no load on it. I know it is either the check valve or piston seals. Is there any way to narrow down which it is? I am hoping it is the check valve, a ton of work to tear apart to fix seals.
Thanks,
Tom

Are you talking while it is running or while it is shut off?

If while running, pull your draft control level back so it will keep it up. You will notice that the draft control will bounce it back up after it drifts down a small amount. If it doesn't cycle to often I would not do anything. If it is a constant up and down motion then it needs fixed. And is most likly the piston.

If while shutoff, there are very few out there that stay up when shut off. And I wouldn't worry about it till it gets bad while running.

IaGray There is a sushion relief valve that could be leaking that would caus this. It is a big job to fix. I have seen it said on this forum many times that the IH hydraulic hitch does not stay very good. If they are in good shap and adjusted right they should stay up with a load on them for ever with engine off. If not the draft cannot work right.

I have 4 other tractors, 06, 56 and 66 series that 3 point stays up, no problem, I hope its the valve.

Remove the hitch link bracket from the rear frame (above the PTO) and look inside to see where the oil is leaking.
