A won't start

Went to do some mowing with the A yesterday & when I went to start it, it cranked over, but my hand slipped of the starter lever. So I went to push the lever in again to start it & NOTHING. It didn't try to turn over or anything. Thinking that it might be my starter or starter switch, I took them both in & they bench-tested fine. Cleaned off all connections (thinking I may have a bad/corroded one), & still NOTHING. Tested battery with voltmeter & it is fine (reading 12.49). I am at a lost. Where do I look next???

Connect a test light between the battery cable terminal on the starter switch and ground. Does it light, if so, depress the starter rod. Does the light stay on or go out?

I think that your starter drive is stuck. In other works the starter never disengaged. You can try rocking the tractor back and forth a bit in gear and see if it comes out, tap the starter with a hammer to see if it disengages, or just take the starter bolts loose and pull the starter out to disengage it.

Can't be the starter drive. I took the starter off & had it bench-tested a couple of days ago(which came back fine with no problems). Re-installed starter last night & still NOTHING happens when I try to start the tractor!

,cyclinder may be full of gas or water if so no starter will turn it over, take out spark plugs and try starter, oh dont stand in front of spark plug hole.let us know what you find out.

I think it has to be something in the electrical because it does not crank over at all. Completely dead when I push in the starter lever.

I just did the same thing with my M.I took apart my switch and it was broke inside. When I put in a new one it turned over twice as fast.

Disconnect the wires to the switch and just cross them to see if that makes the starter go. Maybe some little thing in the switch.
