This Super C has NO spot in the water jacket or on the radiator or the top of the water pump to attach water temp gauge... What can I do to hook up a temp gauge?????? Jim

Andrew, are you saying there is a spot in a housing to screw it into or must I buy a special hose with a fitting in it. My son has worked on several tractors and he has looked up one side and down the other and can find nowhere to screw the temp probe into.... Jim

There should be a plug in that neck, (it is one the right side if memory serves me right cant miss it if its there) if there is not then you dont have a SC neck on there. it could have been replaced by a A or B neck ?

Andrew

Are you sure it is a Super C, if no place for the gauge and it is a SC, the cast piece between the head and top radiator hose has been replaced with one from a C, etc. They both fit, the SC one is larger.

The Farmall A and B and Super A water inlet connection to the block, (bottom front left hand side (from the seat) of the engine) has a plug fitting to take the temperature probe. The gauge mounts above the governor. On these tractors the probe is on the cold side on the water inlet from the bottom of the radiator, not high up in the head (Farmalls H and M) or in the connection from the block to the top of the radiator as in some other models. These tractors do not have water pumps or thermostats.
The Super C has a water pump at the inlet to the block and I am not sure where the probe goes in that case, the parts book does not show a temperature gauge at all although the owners manual shows a water temperature gauge and how to read it but I cannot see where the probe goes. None of the photographs in the owners manual show a water temperature gauge. The thermostat is in the outlet from the block to the radiator. The French Super FCC and FCD have the water pump attached to the fan with the thermostat above it and again I see no reference to a temperature gauge in the parts book for either the gasoline or diesel engines.

There mite be a plpe plug at the left front on the head on top some were there. You can drill and tap the upper water housing also. Sounds like you engine has been changed from the original. Is there a temp guage in the dash now or is the place blocked off whit a cover that removable. Are you sure the engine # states that you do have a SC as the serial# would be 200,000 or more.
