need help w/ possible purchase

We're looking at a 1964 IH 504 and not sure if price is right and worth it with it's problems.

The bucket needs alot of welding, but our main concern is that the frame is cracked, which we weren't told until we drove 150 miles. There's a ball joint bad, the steering is sloppy and may have a drive shaft issue or steering box, not sure. Also, has lever to left of seat w/ plate that's floppy and a slight hydraulic leak. The hydraulics for the rear pto are dripping. The front tires are both different sizes and so old you can't read. Unsure of what size belongs and possible cost to replace. If someone can help with poss fix cost or worth price of $2600 is good or bad.. Any help is worth hearing.
Thanks!

Sounds like a little to much to fix. If i were you i would look around for a better tractor even if you have to pay more it will be cheaper in the long run. Erik..

sounds like this tractor was rode hard and put away wet. hard to say what else is wrong with it, but from the sounds of it, its a money pit.

Unless you plan on spending more money every year fixing this and that you better walk away. This tractor sounds like it was worked hard and then worked even harder and now its time to get rid of it before the current owner has to spend money to fix it.

Had one near here in great shape for $2500 for a long time and I'm not sure if it ever sold for that.

I would walk away, even for $2000 based on your description.
