F 966

Just bought a 966, and wanted to know if anyone can tell me the difference between a I966 and a F966. My SN is 2510190U 033324

What can you folks tell me about this tractor (black stripe) based on the SN. Would be greatly appreciated

Its a 1976 based on the serial number and I believe the black stripes started in 1975 so it should be good.

Never heard of I 966 or F 966 being different. The black stripe 66 series tractors came out in 1976 the last year they made the 66 series also the same year the 86 series tractors came out. They made , example I 560's and F 560's back in the 1950's and early 60's that the I's were utility and the F's were row crop tractors but I am not sure but think that as far as the I and F's went. I think they did make a 656 utility and row crop version but never heard of a 966 doing that. Think all the 66 series were just IH.

Larry, txs for the input.. the SN tag on the tractor shows "F 966" with the sn I mentioned in my earlier note.
