Super A Carb Setup (Carter)

Hi,

I have a Super A with a Carter carb. The tractor idles so poorly that it quits when I throttle back. I have put new gaskets in the carb but adjusted the mixture only slightly. Any tricks out there for setting these things up? I have to maintain such high rpm to keep the tractor running that I could never do any slow precision work. Thanks in advance, Fred

Probably needs a good cleaning, possibly a new kit. You are not going to hurt anything by adjusting the idle speed and mixture, so try that first, although it sounds to me like it needs a good cleaning. I suppose it could be a governor problem, but one thing at a time.

You have a plugged carb ,bad gasket leak somewhere cause ti should idle easy. How many RPM do you have when it dies.
