Hi, my dad is looking to buy a H with the single front wheel. He had a couple question to ask about them. Does anyone know if there is any aftermaket front ends that they could have put on them, that looks like the real one"s? How many did IH make this way? How much is one worth in good running condiotion with good tires? Thanks on any information.

The Farmall H did have a factory option for a single front wheel which is also shown in the parts catalog and from watching the "for sale" ads here on the forum for years they come up on occasion. I have never seen or heard of an aftermarket source for a single front wheel for a H. Don't see them in row crop areas but are probably more common in vegetable farming areas of the country. There is no way of knowing how many were made with a factory single wheel as there is not an identifying code for that option. It would be my guess that a single front wheel doesn't add to or decrease the value of the tractor as they can be changed to whatever style of front end you want with IHC factory produced components very easily. It is my guess that the factory wide front end option adds value due to the desire for those factory originals but I've never seen a demand for the single front wheel here in the farming country of the midwest. The value of the tractor will be determined by it's other features and general condition in the location where the tractor is located. H's are very common and it takes an extremely nice or unusual one to exceed $1500-$2000 in value in most locations. Hope this helps, Hal.
