I got to look at mine today at the machanics. Theres not a thing wrong with it, TO LOOK AT IT. BUT, when the machanic took the rubber seal I had bought from Joes Tractor parts , (And I called Joe today, and he said he sold the correct one, and that many after markt manufacturing companys make a seal that is too small.) Anyway, my seal nearly fell right through. SO If anyone has one to sell, that would be great, But if its worn down on the inside, Id be right where I am right now.

This is not an unusual problem today since the available seal is not the same size as the originial. There is guy who reworks the retainers for the current seal on Cubs who is a member of Farmallcub.com. His name is Phil Lemke. You should do a search on the site for for his name or use the key words "retainer seal." Check with him to see if he may be able to rework your retainer.

as challenger said, that is a well known problem. farmallcub dot com has all the info you could ever need about cubs.

Per the advice I recieved on farmallcub.com, I simply squirted some silicone between the retainer and new rear main seal. I know, I know, it's not the RIGHT way to do something like this, but I fixed it 3 years ago, and it is still holdin the oil on the right side of the seal. And this little tractor gets USED nearly every day during the summer...
