I have a Super C that leaks a stream of gear oil ffrom the seal that is for the large metal drive wheel (for a belt) on the back of the tractor. I was looking to buy one on-line, but I am not sure what it is called. Would it be the same as a PTO seal? Also, does anyone know who sells them? Thanks.

I'm not sure of the size but I wouldn't just put a new seal on it. I've always found where the old seal will eat a groove into the shaft. With a new seal it might continue to leak. So try putting a speedy sleeve on it and a seal, that will get it to stop.

Go to the Case/IH website and look up the part number yourself. Then you know that you are talking about the same thing that we think you are. And it will give you a good picture of the wear sleeve that goes on the pto shaft.

Dang. Couldn't find it on the website. I believe it has to be the same as a pto seal though as the parts I have found don't seem to offer an alternative. The old seal has deteriorated to where it is going to have to be replaced. It is coming apart. Thanks.

It's just an oil seal, but is different from the one used around thed PTO shaft. The old IH # for the belt pulley seal is 48954D. That crosses to a NAPA #NOS13602. The NAPA numbers are usually the same as the Chicago Rawhide numbers. NOS is fo NAPA ol seal, not new old stock.

Darn. I got the seal, but it looks to me like the seal is quite a bit larger in diameter than the shaft. I haven't installed it--yet. Shouldn't the rubber of the seal ride snugy around the shaft? There is a pretty good gap. The outer diameter will fit in the housing fine though (it appears). I guess I should return this one. Is there another number/application for the belt pulley shaft? Thanks.

The oil seal seats on a spacer or on the pulley, not directly on the shaft. You are probably missing the spacer or it is with the pulley.

THanks. This helps. I have the pulley pulled off because the 3 point would not fit on with the pulley on it. I just checked the pulley and there is not spacer that is separate, but it does look like it rides up against something--the seal possibly. Is there supposed to be a separate spacer, or does the pulley just fit flush against it? I'm not sure how I can stop the leak short of putting the pulley back on. Maybe a sleeve over the gear would stop it--something that fits flush against the seal.
