farmall 450

I test drove a farmall 450 or so I think it said. It had the square front sheet metal, a 4 cylinder gas engine, torque amplifier and factory 3 point. The 3 pt controls are on the right side of seat. It has 38" tires on back and wide front with tierods in front of axle. My question, all the photos I can find on here only show the 450 with the older rounded front sheet metal. Am I looking at a different model or did IH make it with the newer style?

Thanks for your help

Try looking up a 460, as the 450s do have round fronts and hoods, (I have a 450 diesel), whereas the 460 have square.
Also the I believe the 460 has the controls by the seat, and the 450 has the hydraulic controls on the steering column stand/hyd. unit.

460 or 560 would not have a 4 cylinder gas engine. Sounds like someone either put a 400/450 engine in a 60 series frame or put 60 series sheet metal on a M/400/450. The front end with tie rods in front would suggest an M, but it would bolt up to almost any of these tractors.

Get a serial number off the engine block and try to find some codes in the rear housing to figure out what you are looking at for sure.

504 would make sense...

Both 450 and 504 have a 5, a 4, and a 0 in the number, and someone not paying particular attention could transpose the digits easily.
