2 piont fast hitch pulling..

hey guy's i have a 2 pt fast hitch on my 300u with the FAST HITCH DRAWBAR that goes across with the holes in it. i wanna take it off and put in the strait fast hitch arms with the balls in it that you use to accommodate 3 point implements. the only thing is when i want to skid logs what the heck do you put your chain to without the crossbar there to wrap your chain around??

Not sure I understand your question.

What more could you want? You have a FAST HITCH. Unplug the drawbar and plug in the adaptors. When you are tired of the adaptors, reverse the sequence. Yep, you will have to get off the tractor to make those changes. Tractoring ain't easy but you can't blame IHC.

?? The change does not have to be permanent. Easiest change you will ever make. You can also get a drawbar that fits in the holes in the 3 point arms. Don't know why you would want to though. Or is this a trick question?

no it's just that in the winter i will be attaching a cart on the 3 pt arms which is my own design which can just be lifted off and on so leaving on the 3 point arms would be a benifit, and i will be going between skidding logs and carting split firewood and swapping between the 2 setups could be a pain in the butt.
i did see the bar that goes between the 3 point arms for about 25.00 bucks and thought that might be an option. but would that hold up and not cause damage to the arm balls when pulling heavy logs thru the woods etc?

Hi when we had a 300U with 3pt adapter we bought a 3pt draw bar from a Ferguson tractor for skidding logs as with 3pt adapter and 3pt draw bar you could lift the small end of log off the ground more. You should always skid logs by hitching to the smallest (top) end. This prevents the log from digging into the ground.

Well, if removing the adaptors & putting in the fasthitch drawbar is too much work the quickest & easiest, though not the cheapest, would be to buy another tractor to do the drawbar work.
Then all you'd have to do is climb off on tractor & on to another. Can't find anything quicker than that.

He wasnt being smart, well maybe a little, but I think what everyone is trying to say, thats its so simple to change the parts out on the 2pt, that they, and I, am just not sure why you think its such a big deal to change them. I was doing the same thing some time back with a 200 I had. Took less than 5 minutes to go from the adapters to the drawbar. No big deal. Now, if you are planning to use one of those "Quick Hitch" adapters along with the 2pt to 3 pt adapters that may be a different story.

You could always fabricate a 3 pt. to fast hitch adapter such as shown below, and make your platform a permanent fast hitch implement.

I have had to swap my fast hitch drawbar with my 3-point lower links several times a day when puttering around the yard on my 340. it's so dang quick and easy to have a 3-point and then go back to the fast hitch drawbar I don't even think about it. my lower links just slide in like the fast hitch implements. you get the best of both worlds here.

The 3pt drawbar won't work anyway...

You would have to remove at least one of the 3pt adapters to install it, because the fast hitch arms don't swing apart for hitch-up like regular 3pt arms do. If you're trying to avoid removing the 3pt arms, then that totally defeats the purpose.

How do you unhook the cart without popping the 3pt adapters out anyway?

Since you've got to pop out the 3pt adapters to hook and unhook 3pt implements anyway, why not just leave the adapters hanging on the cart, and pop the drawbar in to skid logs?

Yes, the 3 point drawbar will hold up fine. That is what I use. I also found a set of hooks that will pin into the drawbar. Really handy.

in reply to Mkirsh, the cart is made of 2 4 in diameter steel pipes that slid right over the ends of the 3 pt adaptors.....also i got some great ideas from you guy's and wanna say thanks...

Mike, my reply wasn't meant to be "smart" as you put it. Fact is, that as John M said, the fast hitch system is so simple to switch from implement to implement, or drawbar as the case may be that the only thng simplier is to have a second tractor hooked to what you whatever .

I farmed with fasthitch equipment from the late '50s to the early '70s. It wasn't unusuall to switch fast hitch implements several times a day. It was also common practice for us to unhook whatever fast htch implement we were using at noon or quitting time & leave it in the field and just take the tractor home. The guy running a pull type implement sure didn't do that. He usually parked his tractor in the field & rode in with the other guy.

If you still consider my reply as "smart", well so be it but I still say the only thing simpler than switching fasthich equipment is having a tractor on each piece of equipment being used.
