Farmall M rear main oil seal

I"m restoring my first red tractor and it"s rear main oil seal is leaking. Can the seal be replaced without pulling the engine? It looks like a lot of work to keep oil off the shop floor.

You will have to split the tractor to replace the rear main seal. If you can make or borrow a splitting stand, then you can unbolt the engine from the clutch housing and then roll the whole front half of the tractor ahead enough to remove the clutch and flywheel. Then you can unbolt the seal retainer and replace the felt seal.
