I just got myself a No. 27 sickle mower to use to cut hay. Well the bar itself I think has had alot of wear and abuse. It seems to have more flop and bow in it than other ones I have seen. It looks like about a foot from the hinge setup it has the most bow in it. Is there anyway I can get the bow out of it? I have used it and seems to work great, but its when I lift, the end of it does not come off the ground but 5-6 inches.
Thanks

A well known poster on this site once recommended the following tip. I won't mention his name because I don't want to speak for him, and I've never actually tried this:

Set the ends of the bar up on blocks, then run over the middle of it with your tractor. That will put a nice upward bend in the bar to replace the droop you have now. Adjust the height of the blocks to fine tune the bend so the bar hangs level.

I disagree. If it cuts fine, leave it the heck alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

The idea of running over it with a tractor has got to be the dumbest suggestion I have ever heard.
