camshaft replacement on an A

At what point does one decide to replace the cam? Light suface rust on the lobes etc.

Lite rust can be cleand up with fine emery cloth.
Deep pits or chips replace.

Don't go too crazy on these engines.
They are very forgiving.
They are not racing engines.

Cool! Then I'll be able to salvage mine. How about the tappets? Can I Clean them up with emory cloth too? Or will that make the cam go "flat"? This is the first tractor engine I've done. New experience fo me! Thanks for all the help!

No problem this isnt a racing engine and that engine will outlast many new stuff thats out there.-

I'll ad that if any are domed, or cupped, the cam lobe of that lifter is probably bad also. Do not use then if such is found. There are no cam bearings. Jim
