H battery discharging

I recently rewired my h and everything seems to be in the right place according to what the wiring diagram shows. It charges fine but when i shut her down the battery drains rather quickly. Im all out of ideas on wat the problem is. Any suggestions??

Did you convert to 12 Volt? With a test light, hook one end to the negative battery post, the other end to the negative battery cable you just disconnected. Leave the positive cable hooked to the battery. The test light will glow if there is a drain. Then it's just a matter of finding where the draw is coming from.

Need a little more info...are you running battery or magneto ignition? 6volt or 12volt? Generator or alternator? If you are running factory 6volt set up with a magneto, the most likely culprit is the regulator is defective or wired wrong. Does the ammeter show a discharge when the tractor is shut off?

Also, don't rule out defective battery. I racked my brain for 2 weeks over a bad Napa battery on my Super M. Take the battery out of the tractor and make sure it holds a charge by itself. While disconnecting the battery, take off the negative terminal 1st and try and see if there is a small spark while you remove the terminal, if so, then you have a short in the tractor somewhere.

I have a battery ignition. 6 volt generator. I got the battery a few weeks ago. The ammeter does show a small discharge when shut off. Hopefully this stuff might help.

With engine off, and battery with charge, loosen one cable at the battery. Watch the gauge and tap the cable on the post of the battery. if the meeter wiggles from zero to negative there is a system drain. If there is not, the needle is just a little off, and there is no drain. The battery is bad.
If there was a drain (meter wiggled) do the following:
If it has a voltage regulator (many do some do not), remove the Bat wire from the Voltage regulator and watch the needle. if it wiggles, the VR is either bad, or is a unit designed for 6v negative ground with solid state components that will draw current. Replace it.
If it has a cutout relay, disconnect the Bat wire at the cutout. Watch the meter if it wiggles the cutout is bad.
If it does not, the issue is in the light switch causing the lights to get voltage when they should not. Jim
