Do you know the year and hence the type of PTO system you have? I am familiar with the splined system but the dog system on the early machines is somewhat different.

If it is the later extended housing style pto, you can take the plug out of the spring detent from the outside, maybe just relax some of the tension on the detent. Older, original have detent inside. Just did this to an M as someone had apparently replaced the spring with a much heavier one. Sometimes they start jumping out of gear and people will washer up the detent or some other sort of quick fix.

I agree with the others, I would suggeat removine the plug/spring/ball, and spraying some penetrating oil in it and work it to free it some. They usually work well. There is an M&W lever attachment that uses far more leverage on the pull rod. It attaches at the seat and the lever sticks up vertically with a shifter style rubber knob. Finding one is harder than getting a picture of one (I do not have a Pic) But fabricating a lever is just too easy. Jim

it is a 1952 farmall i havent took the p.t.o. off yet but i may to see what is going on i may do it when i get ready to change the trans fluid in it
