Farmall A Valves

I have a Farmall Super AV engine that I am working to redo the heads. I have tried to order valves on 2 different occasions. According to Tisco, there were only 2 valves used int he head. Those are 4 25/32 and 4 57/64. Both set that I have received are too long. I measure the latest intake valve and it is 4.826 inches. This is about 2/32 too long. It actuall measures .112 longer than the valve that was removes from the tractor. My question is:

Can I use these valves anyway? Do the other components allow enough adjustment to correct for these differences?

I really need some help. Thanks for all your advice.

The old valves may have been butt ground to smooth the stem end prior to your measuring them.
The two lengths are for either distillate head (shorter) or gasoline only (longer) I do not know the spec, but I believe they are substantially longer for distillate heads.
Look at the distance from the retainer groove to the butt for a comparison, rather than overall length. I believe they are OK at those differences, but will deffer to others with specifications in hand. Jim

They are longer from the retaining groove to the head. They have not been butt ground.

I am very curious about the distillate head, etc. This was not a distillate engine as far as I know. Are there other differences in the distillate head??

Part numbers (caseih.com search for parts) will tell the story.
The differences between the two heads are combustion chamber volume (bigger on the Distillate head) and valves (length). The other parts (I think) are interchangable. If the tractor is original (Possible) the hood would have an extra hole for the starting gasoline tank just ahead of the main filler neck/cap), Jim

I think there are four different heads that can go on those 113/123 engines. They differ by combustion chamber size. The longer the valve lenghth of the valve the higher compression head. What are the casting numbers on your head?
