cant set idle

I have ih2500 (same as 504) with the 153 gas engine. I cant get the idle set down all the linkage seems free book tell me to turn screw on carburetor but that seems to do vary little. thanks dan

Well if all linkage is free and you can not back down the idle with out looking to see myself with the engine running to see if in fact that the gov. is indeed pulling it back to idle and that the manifold is tight and no air leaks and no binding anywhere i am guessing that the governor is not pulling back due to ware or something missing inside of it .

A loose throttle plate as well, could cause it! Jim
