Leaking MD fuel line

Resto was going along good until I discovered a leaking connection at the primary pump filter screen (pipe that goes from there to auxilary filter.) No amount of tightening, loosening, etc. made any difference whatsoever. This doesn't seem repairable, would a hydraulic hose work? Don't think I/ve ever seen a hydraulic hose with that small a diameter. Just thinking out loud. Any suggestions welcome.

I'm thinking that pipe has a sweat fitting on the end, have replaced many years ago, don't know if fitting is still available but unless it is damaged you can unsolder, clean up and resolder.

Thanks for reply. It's leaking where it fits into the connection on primary pump filter screen, not where it's soldered onto the pipe, so fitting apparently is damaged. Question is, where to find a replacement.

Clean it well with brake clean spray, then use good light and watch where it begins leaking. A careful analysis might find a crack that will not be repairable, but it could be a flange or seat that has a scratch that can be polished out. A good diesel shop (or someone willing to look at the part using possible teflon lined stainless steel brake line as a substitute) might work. Salvage yards are the only other alternative. Jim

Really does sounds like a crack. There is no pressure on that fitting. I will say the filter isn't especially needed either. It is just there as a precaution to stop crud introduced into the line from getting into the primary pump.

Salvage yards are a good option, like steelwheelranch.

The entire unit can be replaced with standard plumbing if you want. I have used a standard hose barb and rubber line at that point. I can't remember if it is 3/8 or 5/16.

It is possible the leak may be sealed with fuel lube. You need to be careful with that stuff around injection pumps, it should not be gooped on.

I probably have one of those left over somewhere.

We used these at work for years. I have their 3/8 barbed swivel nuts and hose on my dishwasher. You can get them in 1/4 to 3/4. Colliflower has them near me. Hal

Thanks to all for your responses. I was able to get another (used) line which should be here in a couple of days. We'll see if that works. Unfortunately, I'm not quite savvy enough to post a picture. I cleaned up the connection and looked at it under good light with magnifying glass and could not see anything wrong. If this other line leaks too, I'm going with the barbed swivel nut solution.
Thanks again.
