What do you mean?high range?sounds like the top cover is worn out.a common problem with '06 series tractors.you can try some adjusting(with limited success).you will probaly have to rebuild the range shift apparatas.better still, convert to '56 series shifters.lots better!

my 806 would go into high range but it wasnt easy. i took the dash cover off and adjusted it and put some wd40 on everything. it works a hell of alot better now but you mite have bigger problems than just out of adjustment. it also mite be the range shifting mechanism underneath the range trans cover i have seen those get bent before and make the tractor impossible to shift. i also thought about converting mine to 56 style shift is there a kit for that or how do you go about doing it ?

I would start by pulling the cowl and looking at the linkage for excess ware then i would move on down and see how much slop is in the clevis first . There is not really any adjustment that ya can make other then getting it set for Neutral . Then if ya need to go deeper then get back with me and i will walk ya thru the lower end .

If you convert it to the 56 series shifting it will be fun to drive again. We did my 806 about a year ago last winter. If you contact JP tractor salvage they will send you everything you will need and for a reasonable price. When we did it they sent the whole column with steering wheel and all just had to unbolt it at the top of the trans and set the new one on change the fork and cover on the top of the range trans and hook up the lines for steering and temp and the wires drive away. The reverse shaft has to be changed also. for the separate reverse linkage.
