Most likely it is a "1" with a very faint "X" in front of it.
"X1" means the engine is set up for consumption of gasoline exclusively, and therefore, has a higher compression ratio than an engine that was factory set to burn either gas or tractor fuel. If you DO have an "X1" engine, you will make more power than if you have the distillate engine - something which seems to be very important to male gender tractor owners, myself included.
