i just bought a c farmall that smokes pretty bad! i pulled the valve cover and one of the push rods was laying to the side and not under the rocker. the tractor has no power. could this be the fix or should i go deeper into the engine?

I would check to see if push rod is bent, valve is free, not sticking, and put it back in place, adjust valve clearance to .014 and give it a try. You can always go farther as needed.

Must be a stuck valve.I had the same.I pulled the head and lubed it up,worked it with a rubber mallet back&forth. It runs great now for three plus years.I"m sure you can get into it deeper and better than that but its a quick fix that works.

Tapping on a stuck valve (stem only, not the retainer)after putting some penetrating oil on it (under the spring where the stem comes through) will often free them up W/O removing the head. a little tender effort can work wonders. Jim

I bought a B with same problem now after changing plugs several times on that cycl it starts and runs just fine. Hard to understand how some people can abuse anything like that.
