I've been trying to tell you guys that dealers are INSANE for years now...

They're not trying to sell that M to a farmer. They know farmers aren't going to pay $5000 for it. What they're looking for is some schmuck off the street that doesn't know any better.

That's what ALL these guys who are asking crazy prices for their tractors are looking for... Some idiot to walk up and say, "Ooooh! Pwetty wed twaktor!" and hand over a stack of $100s.

That A, running good and painted up is worth as much money as any two Ms. You really should get it looking good so you can sell it and raise some cash for an M, plus a nice vacation to an exotic locale.

Nothing wrong with the JD A, but if you think anyone on the IH forum is going to say you done good...
Only problem I see with the JDs is if you are in an antique tractor club, the JD guys think they own the club... that's not a problem with the tractor.
I was raised on JDs as the bigger tractors and Farmalls as the chore/cultivating small tractor (this was MANY years ago when a 35-40HP tractor was a big tractor)... I have been lucky enough over the years to run several sizes and brands and they all have their good and bad points. A JD with a Sound-Guard cab is the best to spend all day on.

I was raised on Farmalls mostly (we did have a few JDs) and if I had to wake up tomorrow and put in 12 hours on GOOD later model JD A or Farmall M I would probaly pick the A.
