F-20 with Overdrive

Old parts tractor that has an aluminum square
box on front of transmission that I am told is
an overdrive. Is it worth taking off?

Yes. It is likely a Behlen overdrive. Nice option on an f-20, but boy will it make those final drives whine! It will give you about 15 mph as a road gear.

Yes it would be worth saving. It probually is a Behlen but there were other manufactors also. They are worth some money. They can be a little tricky sometimes to get the upper shaft off but you will need it. Also yeah it will make your bulls whine a ton when it is opened up and they will move pretty fast. Do not put it on a steel wheel tractor a 15 mph ride on steel would be a killer on lots of stuff your butt to start with and maybe even the operator if you put that lever in gear.

I have one on my 1936 f-20,it was made by bennett & sons,have you ever heard of that one?
