Farmall H gas leak from carb

Hi - 49 farmall H all orig have a leak from the carb - slow drip, if I turn off the gas cock on the glass bowl that leaks - any suggestions besides replacing the bowl and rebuilding the carb?

Dad always wound a short piece of valve stem packing around the shaft on the shut-off shaft after backing out the compression nut. Tighten the nut until the leak stops. Carb probably needs a new needle & seat.

where can I get valve stem packing?

Twist up a piece of teflon tape and wrap it around the shaft a few times.
