farmall m 12 volt conversion

i have a m i want to convert over to 12 volt. i see most on here recommend the delco 10si, will this fit under the hood? or do i need the hitachi 14231 that some are recommending?? also what pully do you put on these??

The Hitachi is just fine, and smaller. (Unless you have an issue with non USA parts, I do not)
The pulley that is used on the Nissan 721 truck is just fine.
L is to idiot light(equal to #1 terminal on 10SI), S is wired to the output stud (equal to terminal 2). Jim

The 10Si will fit under the M hood with no problem. It is a very tight fit for an H. Tight fit meaning that it rubs on both the valve cover and hood.

To install the alternator just flip the generator bracket upside down and drill out the front bolt hole for a 3/8" or 10mm bolt, depending on which alternator you get. The pulley that comes on the alternator usually works fine. You will need to come up with an adjustable top bracket for the alternator so you can adjust the belt tension.
