1952 Farmall H trans repair

Hi- the differential side bearing races are worn and have been rotating in the side mounting cup. I can see it has worn metal away, is it OK to braze the worn spots and machine the bearing housing back to spec's so the races fit tight. I have a lathe that will handle the parts, Will braze be strong enough? Welding cast with nickel rod may make it hard to machine? I have seen great things done with brazing however will it stand up for the next few years? Any help would be great, Thanks Dan.

You could bore the housings out and make up and press sleeves in to bring them back to standard. IF they are not too far gone what about knurling the housing bores and fitting the bearings with an engineering adhesive like Loctite bearing retainer?

I think the bronze will flow and be less adequate than needed. I like the idea of a press fit insert to take up the space, like a Speedy Sleeve in reverse, But it might be difficult to get it pressed in. If too thick, it would reduce the strength of the cast material.
There ar hundreds of these parts in salvage yards, I would choose that option, or purchase bearings that were just a smidge larger O.D. and machine for a medium press fit on those races.
Mark the carriers with info on what you do with stamps. Jim
