H about the shift lever

I have a farmall "H" that get stucks in two gears
the shift lever is worn out at the bottom. I was
told I could weld the end of the shift lever to make it work again. I would like to know if that will work at all please let me know. How big do I
weld the end of the shift lever. If someone knows the specs for the shift lever thank you!
 
Be sure the pin that holds the shifter in place fits the hole. If someone stuck a smaller diameter pin or bolt in there the shifter is lifted up by a spring.

TomH in PA the shift lever was over shifted into two gears. I had someone help me get it unsuck from two gears. They told me the end of the shift lever was wore out. I was told the end of the shift lever could be welded so what are the specs please. Unless someone has one to sell.
 
I am doing one tonight. 0.75 long and 0.30 wide. When you get it all done and ground to size, heat the tip cherry red and quench it in water to harden it. There are several topics with pics on here if you search for them.
 
Welded a number of them over the years. It works fine. Just need to do a little trial and error.

No specs., just did it by eye. Till it "looked right" and worked right

It works!!
