504 Farmall Specs?

I just acquired a 504 Farmall to do bushogin and grade driveway etc... so I can retire my Grandpa"s WD45 Allis-Chalmers and fix it up.

I don"t have a manual yet. What should the plugs be gapped at? Also wondering what oil should be ran in the pto and the level it should be at. Thanks.

Plugs gap at .025 points gap at .020 use LOW ASH 30 weight oil ONLY and this is one more of the I H gassers that require 93 octane gas Ing. timing is vary important also on this engine and should be checked and reset with each and every set of points. Now here is where ya have to know the s/n of the ENGINE to set the timing correctly. Engines before s/n 4484get set at 22 degrees BTDC, engines after 4484get set at 20 degrees BTDC at rated PTO RPM

Spark plug gap for the 504 with the C153 engine is .023. Service manual says use IH Hy-Tran Fluid or a mixture of IH torque amplifier additive and SAE 10W engine oil in the ratio of one quart of additive to each four gallons of engine oil. On the 504 the transmission, pto, lift system, power steering, and torque amplifier if so equiped, all run on the same fluid...and from the same reservoir, which holds about 12 gal. of fluid. To fill there is a 1/2" or so "level plug" on clutch side close to line with shifter. The fill plug is about 1-1/4" or so plug, at transmission top cover, alittle in front of shifter and also on clutch side. When the fluid comes running out of the "level hole", reservoir is full. I believe this info is correct but get a manual to help you and peace of mind. Also this forum has a lot of good info on the 504 that will help you. Good luck

Ah there is no more T/A additive and ya only use Hy tran or equivalent and the setting or .023 has long gone out the window on the plug gap.

I believe that the 504 has the C153 engine, not the C200. The end of the line for the engine that started off in the Farmall A.

Thanks everybody. Ill get the serial # so yall can tell me the year of the tractor if you don"t mind.
What is yalls opinions of the 504 tractor?
I have already used it to bushog and have used the box blade to dress up the driveway, seems to all work well and it runs good.
The tractor don"t have much wear and tear. It was used to pull cultivaters through a tabacco field.
