Is the steering universal near the gear box replacable by just changing the universal or do you have to cut the rod and insert a new joint and reweld

The U joint is riveted to the shaft and easy to remove, unless it has been welded on.I have used two oil seals instead of a wear sleeve.

Remove the pins they will drive out. The problem will be removing the joint from the steering sector and the steering shaft. You will need some good heat on both ends. Both ends have a woodroff key. The replacement could have a different way of mounting just depends on where you get one. It will not be like the original and cost around 45 and up.

Over the yrs iv had and sold many Bs and have never seen one that has the u-joint riveted. So where do you come up with that. How many have you replaced or fixed.

Gene,When I asked the question I never seen the tractor,Im familar with the F series.Since than I found out that it has roll pins in it.
