i am looking for some where it get the shaft and some other parts for a farmall h's power takeoff.it is hard to go in and the shaft that the lever is on has been broke i may clean the p.t.o. out and thinking it needs a rebuild to solve the problem of it going in gear

I don"t have the serial number split handy, but the H"s used 2 different PTO setups. Make sure you get the correct one.

The Farmall H had 3 (THREE) different PTO's during it production. The first was between s/n 501 and 45613, the second was between s/n 45614 and 117999 and the third and last was from s/n 118000 to end of production. This information is from my Farmall H TC-27E Parts Catalog. You will need to find a PTO unit from the same serial number group to have the correct replacement for your tractor. Good luck and hope this helps, Hal.

I have been told that the third PTO (the heavy duty one) would bolt right up to a tractor with the second type, but that the first had dogs instead of splines where it engaged. I don't know that this is true, as I have only seen the third kind in person.

I looked further into my parts catalog after seeing the replies by Ken and Zach to see where the transmission components changed to accept the splined PTO shaft. The transmission countershaft did change at s/n 45614 with splines on the back end which would accept the 2nd and 3rd styles of PTO's as noted by Zach. I don't know if anything else might be involved in putting the 2nd style in a tractor of the third family or not but it doesn't appear that the connection inside the transmission would matter. The back end of the last style PTO is a lot different then the first two and don't know if anything there would be an issue or not but doesn't appear to be. The rear case maintained the same part number throughout the total H production run so the changes if any would be in the components within the case. Thanks for the replies as we all learn by going through these exercises and I would certainly be lost without my part catalogs, Hal.

I have heard that the reason they changed to the protuberant design from the flat back was so that the PTO would be the standard 14" from the drawbar, but again I do not know for sure.
