Check the picture out guys. The overflow tube is cracked right below the cap opening. Can this be repaired with something simple like JB Weld? Or would a radiator shop have to repair this damage?

Unless you can get it perfectly clean JB Weld would not be the choice.
Simple job for a radiator shop.

I don't see the crack, but I typically use JB weld for that type of thing, it works fine. It is not under pressure so there should be no problem.

If the tranish is not completely removed eventually the JB Weld will break away.
The key to success with these type of repairs is getting the metal very clean and washed good with solvents like acetone.

A wire brush for an electric drill may do the job cleaning the damaged area.

OMG, PATCH the line with solder, using a split piece of copper tubing as a "splint".

If you can"t manage a simple repair such as this find someonne who can help you. FORGET the "magic goop".

Soldering it's NOT "Rocket science", for Pete"s sakes!

As the others said it is a easy fix . Good time to pull it off and take it to the rad. shop and have it fixed and boiled out , they even paint them for ya . Tractor will run cooler !

I'm just making sure Bob. I know a lot of you guys have more experience then myself so better safe then sorry in my mind. I was thinking of doing either that or the JB, however, the last thing I want to do is some half job that ends up costing me more time and money later.

I wish you were nearby. I ENJOY soldering stuff like that!

Trouble is with the "magic goop" not only will it fail, it leaves a mess to be cleaned up when the proper repair is made.

Clean goes for everything, I assumed the person who posted the question knew that. JB works on anything that is not stressed. It is currently holding the carb float up in my JD riding mower. Held for 2 years now, will probably eventually give up. Cheaper than $250 or so for a new carb.
