utility manifold

I just recieved a brand new exhaust/intake manifold to replace a cracked unit on my 300 utility. I noticed that the original manifold is smooth,(almost polished) on the bore of the intake. The new manifold's intake bore is very rough and un-polished. Does anyone out there know if this will have any effect on how the tractor runs? I know we used to polish and port manifolds back in the day when we built "race" cars, but I didn't expect to have to incur this cost on a new tractor manifold. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

You will more than likely never notice it. Ever look how small those under the axle exhaust pipes are?
If you are really concerned, take it and pull the snot out of it for awhile. If it heats up past what it normally does by a wide margin, then get concerned.
Ain't nothing made like it used to be.

There is no issue with the rough texture. Flow benches show that a texture can be higher flow than dead smooth. It is due to the boundry laminar flow of the surface being broken up by the bumplies, where as the smooth walls allow a deeper layer of boundry drag. Go with the flow.
It will make no difference on a slow breathing tractor at any rate. Jim
