Changed my 340 gas from 6V Pos gnd to 12V Neg gnd with an alternator.

I need to change the lamps for 12 volt. What are you guys using for the lamps, both front & rear.

I am going to have to change one of the front headlights back box (case, tear-drop) as it has rotted out on the bottom

Thanks in advance.

Edward

Since I still work my 340 and not show it, I swapped out the orginals for a new pair of 12 volt sealed beams from the local farm and fleet store. They bolted right up and work fine but don't look stock. If you are trying to keep the original look, others may have suggestions.

I still work my 340 also. Although I want it to look close to the original, functionality is also key (and not costing an arm & a leg).

Thanks. Edward

Try CaseIH, I think they still have the 12V sealed beams that fit your housings, I also think they are the same as the 460/560, etc and some Ford models also.

When I did the conversion on my 340 I took the sealbeam to Auto-valu and they fixed me right up. Didn't cost much either. I have the larger headlight on mine, 5" dia.. Got the 3" back one there too. Good luck PUTTER

I went to NAPA and bought 2 GE4419 sealed beams for the front lights of my "converted" 340. Not sure what I used for the rear.
If you search the archives you will see some past discussions on this, along with ideas on other bulbs to use.
