I have several starters for parts tractors that I would like to get re-wound for spares parts. I also have two tractors that need starters now. Is there any one who rewind starters in New England?

Thanks,

Unless you can find an old timer with time, the fact is only very expensive starters from one of a kind, or extreme limited production are actually rewound. Most have issues that can be repaired W/O rewind, and if not, the field , or armature is actually replaced. Good luck finding a good shop, they are not common any more. Jim

JW, you anywhere near St. Johnsbury VT.
Herb Richardson has a shop off RT. 2
He does all types of farm and auto electrical.
I don't have his # handy. Try the online phone book. oldiron29

NOBODY rewinds starters. They simply install new pre-made windings or a re-man armature.

There's places YOU can get the new field oils or re-man armature and do the work yourself.

Have had a lot of starters rebuilt at local starter shops but decided long ago that a factory rebuilt starter is best buy in long run. JMO.

Good starter shop in Troy, New York. I forget the name. Doubt they rewind though. The labor cost would be too high. The buy pre wound armatures I'm sure.

Funny, when I was a kid, I worked in an elevator electrical shop in NYC with my father, who rebuilt elevator motors. I rebuilt the small door motors and used to wind them by hand. Brings back memories.
