Farmall B - Before & After

This is my Farmall B as I brought it into the school shop before restoration by an FFA student began.

This is where we are as of Friday June 25, 2010.

You can see we've added a wide front to it build from 1/2" plate, schedule 80 pipe, and Farmall A knees, spindles, tie rods, clamps, etc.

That's interesting for sure.

I do love the little letter series tractors, always good to see one being kept up.

Nice looking Allis. J/K Too shiny to be primer, and looks kinda orange, like Valspar paint? Maybe it's just the lighting. Either way glad to see a proper restoration underway.

Thanks. I definitely can't take all the credit. The students did all the scrubbing, de-greasing, sanding, etc. I helped a lot with the design of the front end and helped with the machining.

The only gaskets we purchased were the front timing cover gasket, cork valve cover gasket, and front and rear main seals. All the others we cut out ourselves from gasket material. (Didn't remove the head or head gasket)

Hopefully we'll have it all together by the end of the week. I'll post more pictures then.

Not sure why the pictures come out with an orange hue. The paint is definitely red. The cabinet in the background is also red if that helps. I took the pictures with my camera phone so the quality is pretty poor. I need to get new rechargeable batteries for my good digital camera. Anyway..

I used VanSickle epoxy primer from Shoppers Supply and VanSickle Gloss Case I.H. Red 455 70 and applied two coats with an HVLP gun.

I did [i:5c1dadb7ea][b:5c1dadb7ea]not[/b:5c1dadb7ea][/i:5c1dadb7ea] use any hardener. I've read too many horror stories of people damaging their lungs from that. I did use Xylo to reduce the paint and wore a good respirator with replaceable activated carbon cartridges.
