Is this a TD 4?

We have had this tractor since it was new. It hasn"t been used much because it is so small that it is uncomfortable for anyone to sit in for a long period of time. We have lost our warehouse and we need the shed that this has been living in. So we need to sell it.

I have no idea what it is, let alone what it is worth. It is in really good condition without any rust. I know that is hard to believe but we are in central CA and our weather is mild.

If anyone could tell me what it is worth or what it is, I would be very appreciative. We have a guy that wants to buy it but I know he wants to pay next to nothing for it.

Thanks.

is it a crawler ? no td4's maybe td6. even a serial # would help, but pic. is the best. e mail me .

There is no such thing as a TD-4. There was a TD-5 which was sold mostly in Canada, TD-340, 500 or 500C are other possibilities for a small IHC crawler. Show a picture to get it idenified.

Sorry, I thought I uploaded a picture but I guess it didn't take. I will try again.

That looks like a TD-6 but might be a TD-9. The 9 is simply a scaled up version of the 6. Looks to be in nice original condition. Find the serial number or engine number and we will tell you what it is and its age. I think the serial number tag is on the driver side of the firewall.

Don't sell it cheap. Make your buyer pay. I'll bet it has nice (low wear) tracks. Find someone who can give you a percent estimate of the track pin bushings. The only drawback I can see is that it does not have a blade and never did. But then again, is it missing a track roller? I think there should be one in the center. It may have a PTO under the seat if viewed from the back.

You might also find some interest on the "Crawler" forum on this site. Good luck. It's too bad I am on the east coast, but then again, I have enough tractors.

It appears to be a TD-6. The TD-6 only has one idler wheel on the top, also, if you look closely you can just barely make out the TD-6 decal on the gas tank behind the seat. Nice tractor. Too bad it's missing the original head lights.

I added a picture. I didn't take this one. A friend of ours was at a branding and took this one. I will try and get down there tomorrow and take some pictures of the decals and get the numbers. I don't remember it having headlights. I know no one has fooled with it for over 40 plus years.

What would be a fair price for it or where could I find a fair price? Thanks.

No doubt changed the lights because of the 12V system.
A neighbor of ours when I was a kid had a TD-6... looked just like that one. Always wanted to drive it, but never had the chance. It was muddy one fall when he filled our silo and he used it instead of his M to pull the chopper. As a probably 7 or 8 year old kid, I thought it was pretty cool.

I may use that link... my 240U has been changed to 12V and the lights were never re-wired for 12V. Don't know if that's the bulb I need, but I'll check. My lights were re-located from the front of the tractor to the cross bar on the loader and never hooked back up. Since I've had no reason to use it after dark, I haven't bothered with it, but you never know when it might be handy.

I'm not sure I'd consider lack of a blade a "drawback."

It's a crawler tractor, not a bulldozer. Sure it looks like a bulldozer, but there is a distinct difference. Bulldozers have much slower gears for digging and pushing dirt. Normal tillage gears are too fast for bulldozing, and the tractor won't have enough power to do anything useful with the blade.

It is a TD6, narrow gauge, narrow track pads.

Hard to say about condition, track chain shows some signs of wear that needs a closer look. Grousers look to be welded up. Track chain is the old style open link.

A bulldozer is the blade that is attached to the front of a tractor, in this case a crawler tractor. Gearing was not changed on these units, except for an option to exchange third for a high speed reverse.

Not often you see a spark arrestor.

Price can generally be anywhere from $1500 to $3500 or so.
