Junk regulators

Everything is new in the charging system on my SH. The generator even has a new armature. My problem is that, as we've read countless times, the voltage regulators that are available are junk. I'm on #3. Is there a better (solid state?) solution that can be housed inside the regulator case in order to keep the appearance original??

I have a NAPA 12 volt one on my 460, maybe a year old. Tractor does not get much use, but it seems ok. Seems like it was $60-$70. Stay away from the farm store type.

Yea I know what you mean. Had my genny rebuilt on my H and it tests fine. Had 2 of those made in India pieces of junk quit working in 3 years. The old one was at least 30-40 years old because I never changed it.
I have read stuff about electronic regulators built in the old case. Lets both start looking and post back when we find something. Mark
