ok.i have received my manual today but it is not very clear on the distributor and timing.i have it removed at this time.

i understand how to find top dead center but i do not understand how to locate the #1 on the cap.

is there any where i can get a tune up kit for this machine other than ordering it online?points, cap, rotor and condensor.

thank you in advance.i have a manual now so if anyone needs any info from it i will post it.

you need to be on Top Dead Center compression not exhuast. Do you know the difference? It's a four stroke engine and it take two revolution to complete a full power stroke. If not you need to take the valve cover off. It's the only way you have to tell you on top dead compression. You have to do it by the "valve rocking" and figuring out your "companion cylinders". If not you have tiem the distributor 180 degrees off.

1 on the cap can be anywhere you want to set it. I general put it where the books say only because the wires line up easier. But i don't always have a book.

Do you understand you have to static time it? Setting the on TDCC advance so many degree and then make the distributor spark 1 plug while turn the distributor by hand.

Very vital technique to use to make sure that it start and doesn't backfire when you start it.

I'm sure you can you can buy those parts online easily.
