FARMALL C - HYDRAULICS QUESTION

I don't know much about Farmall tractors, so I am seeking good advise.

Sent my 1948 Farmall C to the repair man because the 2-row cultivator did a lot of JERKING when in the raised position. I was convinced there was something wrong with the Touch-Control System and whatever pump is associated with it. Explained it all to the repair man. Tractor came back after being taken apart and "fixed". Put the cultivator on and found that it is doing the same thing that it was doing before I took it.

My obvious question is: Is it normal to have this JERKING in the system when the implement is in the raised position? I also noticed some vibration while the cultivator was in the lowered position in the field that was not there before I took it to the repair man.

Any informed, experienced opinions would be most welcome. Thank you very much.

The jerking is not normal. What is happening is the cultivators are drifting down and the unit is repositioning them. That being the case the rams and valves(inside the big block under the gas tank) need new o rings. That should clear up your problem.

Hope this helps.

Mine will do that when it's low on fluid. I need to rebuild the pump as it leaks hydraulic fluid past the front seal into the engine.
