F 350 Gaining Oil

I have a 350 that makes oil! Could the hydraulic oil be leaking into the crankcase through the pump? How would I fix?

Also, I have an all hydraulic loader on tractor. Do I need an auxiliary reservoir to provide enough oil for all the cylinders? The lift cylinders are one way!

The oil is leaking thru the pump. You have to remove the pump and replace the seal. Easy job, but if I remember right on my 300, timing can be effected if you don't get the teeth of the pump, distributor back in the right position.

Could be any of 100 different reasons for the oil volume to increase. Hydraulics is a good guess, though I've never heard of it happening on the larger 4-cylinder tractors, only on the Cub, Super A, Super C tractors.

You're going to find that solving most problems on old tractors involves the simple "take it apart, see what's wrong, and fix it" method. It's probably just the front seal on the pump, though.

Yes, you need an additional reservoir. It should be part of the loader, either in the tops of the cylinders, or in the loader frame.

Your pump probably has a groove worn on No11 as shown in this pic. It doesn't cover your pump, but your's may be similar. A speedi-sleeve is used to cover that worn surface. The old seal usually causes the wear. The wear is probably in that area beyond the woodruff key before the gear. No4 gets brittle from age and causes the wear. Hal
