rim width for a 12.4 X 38 tire

What is the recommended rim width for a 12.4 X 38 tire? I have two matched good tires and need a pair of good rims for my H.

What I've heard is that 11 inch rims would be the normal thing but for pulling you might want a rim that is as close as possible to the width of the tire. I've also heard that you can go 1" wider or narrower than normal without a problem. That being said my H has 14.9" tires on 10" or 11" rims and it does fine, so I guess you may want to use what you can find.

I"ve got 2 Hs with the 12.4x38 rear tires. Both of those tractors have the 10 inch wide rims and the tires look good on those rims. The tires are NOT pinched in nor do they spread out at the tread.

Technically speaking, the 12.4 tires are supposed to be mounted on 11 inch rims, but there are way more Hs with 12.4 tires mounted on 10 inch rims than there are on 11 inch rims.

I'm with Rusty on this one too. I've got a pair of H's that both have 12.4's on 10" rims and they look to fit quite well. Like Rusty says...not too spread out and not too squeezed in either.

I've got 12.4's on my pulling H, and they are mounted on 10 inch rims. No problems. That being said, Rusty is correct in that technically, they should be on 11 inch rims, and I do have a set of 11 inch rims awaiting cleanup and a fresh shot of galvanizing before I move my 12.4's from the 10's to the 11's.
