Hello This weekend I went to use my 340 and it would turn over but it would not start. It sits for month or two between use. I checked for spark on a plug wire nothing. cleaned points still nothing so I hooked a chain to it and pulled it with a tractor went 100 yards and it started up. I ran it for 5 minutes and shut it off it started up every time after that. ? what would it be that would not let it fire with the starter it is 6 volts Thank you

Your starter may be requiring too much battery voltage and has too little for ignition. When you pull start it you're not dropping the battery voltage. Could be a weak battery too. Hal

More than likely the battery just wasn't charged enough to turn it over fast enough to start and also give a hot spark.
Try charging the battery overnight.
Also make sure all battery connections are "bright and tight".
