can anyone tell me what tractors would have had a diesel engine in them with a number stamped on the block of 246dt2d004705 ?

Need more info.,(4 or 6;gasor diesel?)do you own a tractor with this engine?what model is it?I would say 246dt indicates 246 cubic inch/diesel/turbo.the rest of the #s could simply be cast ing #s.an engine could be used in multiple models.

4 cyclinder diesel don,t own this tractor am looking at it to buy. tag is missing. these are the only numbers on block. am trying to figure out what model it is. thanks for the help.

Hi, if it is a German built Diesel with a Bosch injection pump then look at this web site:
http://www.ihace.de/02_motor/motor_index.htm
This site also lists German tractors that used these engines but the D-246 was used also in the UK Doncaster built 784,785.
I don't believe there was a turbo version but could have been used in another application.

Here is break down of the number on the engine. (turbocharged engines will have DTT stamped on them after the size)

246DT2D004705

246 = Cubic inch displacement
D = diesel
T = tractor
2 = ????
D = Country of origin; D = Germany
004705 = sequential serial number
