Using rotella 15-40 oil in Int. 300u 400 Farmall

Generally, I use 30 weight non-detergent oil in these tractors in the summer and 10 wt non-detergent in the winter. Can I switch to the 15-40 rotella for all round usage without harming the engines? It's about time for an oil change, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I use Shell Rotella 15-40 in all my equipment except my vehicles that call for 5-30. Use it in late J D Diesels that I farm with and several old tractors.
I got started using this oil after noticing the local trucking companies were using it.

I switched my Super H to 15W-40 (Mobil Delvac) the first time I changed the oil. (It ran it's first 45 years on #30 non-detergent near as I can tell...)

It's now been running on the detergent oil for 10+ years with no problems whatsoever.

Rotella 15-40 is the only oil I can keep in my International 300U when I run it hard bush whacking. If I use 30 weight, I can go through 2 qts every 5 hours and none using 15-40. Been using it for 10 years in my 300U.

I have switch every thing to 15-40w oil and had no problems. I have read that switching to a detergent oil may break loose sludge that the non-detergent oil has allowed to build up. The sludge can plug the pickup screen. Was the none- detergent oil changed often?
For peace of mind, how about installing a bright oil pressure idiot light in case the gauge is not watched closely.

I use it.

If you are concerned about switching to detergent oil, drop the oil pan and see if you have a lot of sludge sitting in the bottom of the pan. If there is, pull the valve cover and clean off what's up there too.

I have switched each old tractor I've purchased to Motorcraft Diesel 15W-40. I've noticed the oil pressure gauge shows a more consistent reading between hot and cold and oil consumption has not been an issue.
I have switched each over without dropping the pan and cleaning it out. No problems there either.
In summary, I think 15W-40 is the way to go.

With very few exceptions farmers switched to detergent oil in the early 1960s. They used the best oil available and that was not non detergent. Switch and don t look back.

I use Delo 400 15w40 and Rotella 15w40 and have had excellent results. They really are intended for mixed fleet use and using them in a gas engine is fine.

The diesel type oils contain additives that the older engines with flat tappet cams and shaft rockers love. They have more detergent than you need but it won"t hurt anything.

Use it and go!

I have used Rotella Synthetic 5W-40 in my 1940 model H ever since I got it four years ago. Never a problem. I even added a quart of automatic tranny fluid to dissolve the gunky buildup inside the engine, then I just ran it for about a year and changed the oil and filter. Filter and oil was nasty, but I pulled the valve cover and the top of the engine was nearly spotless, so I pulled the oil pan and it was a little bit dirtier, but not much. Cleaned them both, scrapped off what I could reach and did it again. Next years oil change and inspection revealed the top of the engine was absolutely spotless, and when I had the front cover off to change the cam last week, (a lobe was worn off when I first bought the tractor), it was super clean as well. I also use the same oil in my all vehicles, the car, the trucks and the 4x4 that sits most of the time before I take it out and beat on it in the boonies for a weekend. Never had an oil related problem in anything I've used it in. Prior to using it though, I used the Rotella T 15-40 in everything, and never had a problem with it either.
