MTA Split problem

I am having a very difficult time putting back together my MTA. I have tried every thing but it just will not slip back together. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks.

Unhook the coil wire, put the transmission in neutral, make sure everything is blocked, bump the starter once or twice and if you have the clutch plate installed right it will fall together. I also use a couple of long bolts with the heads cut off for guides. The clutch plate must be centered to the pilot bearing or it will never go together. Good Luck.

Look back to tractor talk i told ya how to do it. Been doing them that way for i can not remember . That way the only thing ya have to line up is the pilot bearing No muss no fuss they just slide together .

The Tractor Vet has said it best. This is the only way I will do it now, and it saves so much time, instead of thinking it will slide together this time, no wait this time etc.

Take his advice instead of asking on multiple boards.

Good Luck!

For those who haven't been back and forth

(quoted from post at 20:37:12 06/14/10) Good grief , Pull it back apart and remove the pressure plate and place it on the floor and use your hgeel and push one release lever down at a time and lock the lever down with a 1/4 inch nut then do the next and then the next this hold the pressure plate in the release possession . Next hang the pressure plate on the PTo input shaft then hang the clutch disc in the transmission shaft and slid it together , Then remove the inspection cover off the bottom of the bell housing and work up thru the bottom and bolt the pressure plate to the flywheel . This ain't rocket science it a flippen tractor. Oh and it really helps if the bell housing is clean or you will have grease clean up to your arm pit.

I"m not very experienced with tractors, but this winter I followed tractor vets advice and method about how to install the clutch and my tractor went back together very easy. His advice saved me a lot of time and trouble.

The Long Bolts with no heads is also be called ALLTHREAD Bolts. Different diameters, usually 2 ft long or so...Worked great w/ my 240.. 8)
