H Farmall engine

Bought a H engine has governor off compleate dist has been pulled. What do I do to get it timed to put the parts off mine on this one. Thanks for any help.

The governor is not a timed unit just install you may have to adjust it but no timing. to time the distributor you need to crank until # 1 cylinder is on it compression stroke, when it comes up to the top dead center the rotor in cap should be facing number 1 on the distributor cap. Just a note number 1 cylinder is in the front of the engine closet to the radiator. I would also grab a manual too

Thank I can handle that. Its a good engine guy tore tractor down and parted out. My engine was needing built got good engine cheeper than parts to rebuild mine.

One additional bit of information: TDC on the compression stroke is when the piston is at the top of the bore and both valves are closed on that cylinder.

i must be doing it wrong i set the motor tdc#1 crank the mag till it clicks past #1 hold that point install mag into the motor dogs bolt up loosly roll the mag tight against the motor on top crank the motor over to tdc#1 again turn the mag untill it fires lock it down right there u r in time tdc if your mag is timed
