Original Paint Formula for McCormick-Deering 22-36

I am getting ready to sandblast and paint my 1931 McCormick-Deering 22-36 frame.
As some of you probably know, a Mark Stephenson [[email protected]] seems to have come up with the formula for the original gray colored paint. He found this by finding an unopened can of original paint and having it analyzed.

HAVE ANY OF YOU BOUGHT THE FORMULA AND USED THE PAINT?

If so, exactly what paint brand, with or without hardener, etc. have you used and what have been your results?

Thanks,
Tom

Formulas are based on Dupont Imrod and Centari paints. Imrod is an industrial paint not known for good finishes and Centari is no longer available. Duponts FASTDRY line has a gray that I think is close. I have some but haven't sprayed my 22-36 with it yet. McD web site hopes to transfer the formula as soon as they get back to Dupont to get it done.

I used Centari acrylic enamel on this tractor last month. Its the cream color. The blue is New Holland's acrylic enamel blue. Didn't use hardener. Hal

I hear those cans of original paint were from 20 years after IH switched to red at the end of 36. Ih made their own paint in small batches, every batch was a slightly different color and theses organic paints didn't last very long outside. Paying for that code seems silly to me, ask your paint professional if his paint scanner gives an exact match or gives the closest match in the system, you will be surprised by his answer.

There are two sides to the grey question.

The blue grey: blue pigment added to help opacity:

Or the battle ship grey:

Pick the one you like best and ask for the code, nobody really knows the true color

The W-30 in this picture was painted with McCormick Deering Gray from the Fordson House. At least the part that is painted, Waiting for better fenders.

I tried to order their formula but everytime I tried I got kicked off line. Used paint that I ordered from fordson house liked the color and how it went on.

I talked to a lady from Dupont this morning and she recommended Dupont's Nason paint code DS169.
I would look at this paint chip at your local Dupont dealer. Here's their phone number:

Sorry to hijack this, don't know any other way to contact El Toro. I saw a posting of yours with a picture of an owner's manual for a Gilson 42" mowing deck. I am desperately searching for a parts breakdown showing how the spindles are assembled. Is there any way I could get a copy of at least the pictures that show that? I'd love a copy of the whole thing, but would take anything I could get. I'm also looking for parts...my deck is a 33168B, 3-blade, rear discharge, hydraulically raised; mounted on a Gilson 33183A 16hp MW tractor. Thanks!

How much is he charging for the code?

That's great and I appreciate it a whole bunch. Sorry to be a pest but can I also get the text that goes with it--telling what each number is? My spindle has a bunch of goofy parts inside. I suspect they were somebody's idea of how to deal with the bores where the bearing races sit being worn, but there are parts that sure don't seem to be on this pictorial. This looks about like a boat trailer axle, the bearing races butting up against a snap ring and the bearings loaded by the tightness of the nut that also holds the pulley on. Just want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything--have you ever heard of any need for spacers between the bearings?
